From spray can to paste up…I have been seeing a a lot of political graffiti lately, especially for Obama. If you look in your local downtown area you will definitely know what I mean. Here are O.S.H. we support graffiti art and Obama, so for us it’s a 2 for 1 special!

Check out some of these works.

You’ve heard of hiding in plain sight.

Tsukioka says the idea was inspired by a trick used by Japanese ninja assassins, who cloaked themselves in black blankets so they couldn’t be seen at night

It’s definitely not the real thing, but Aya Tsukioka’s skirt doubles as a disguise to make the wearer look like a Coca Cola machine. Aya Tsukioka’s vending machine skirt is part of a new line of urban camouflage. This piece was originally designed to keep a gal safe while hiding from a potential mugger.

Ok so we tryin’ to be major right? And this is an urban blog, right? So lets take on some real issues that arise in Urban societies. STD’s.

Yeah I get it STD’s aren’t cool, and neither is not getting a$$, so as civilized human beings we’ve started to adjust, wear raincoats when it rains, make sure our heads covered. whatever you wan to call it. Ok so, STD’s aren’t an urban only thing, but I’m pretty sure the new advertisements for Inspot.org that I see at all the bus stops in Pacific Beach are.

So on the Inspot.org sign it says something along the lines of “E-cards to help you tell them that you have an STD.” This got me thinking, before the time of “from Myspace to My Place” and everyone carrying a portable texting machine [cell phone] was this service even necessary. My decision, yeah, its always good to have a support group so if something does come up or someone does get sick that person can calmly begin to deal with it. BUT and this is huge, don’t you think something as serious as an STD at least deserves a phone call? I can rant all day about communication breakdown and how with new technologies and new ways to “communicate efficiently” people are actually holding less conversations and resorting to more fragmented ideas and sentence fragments to get a point across, but thats not even the point. As a person who gets ALOT of junk mail I tend to weed out the letters that actually need my attention and those that don’t. [usually deleting all the chain letters sent by family or spam, or maybe even just a letter from an unknown address[that I guess now could potentially hold information about my health]] Don’t get me wrong, Getting tested is great and everyone should do it. There is an airer of relaxation and confidence when you know that everything is clean and all good.

So Inspot.org thank you for trying to get everyone out and tested but really do you think the best way to notify someone is through a message from some email address from myspace? I took a look at the “E-Cards”
that are supposed to break the news and, I’ll let u judge for yourself but I think each one falls short in actually getting the severity of the message across

And I love the title on the top of the browser window “InSpot.org – [STD] Internet Notification Service for Partners Or Tricks” do you see that? They actually used Tricks, now I wonder is this for all those Craigslist daters out there or when you get a hooker do you have to give her your email “just in case”? Either way come on is this really what people had in mind when someone sent their mom her first birthday E-card because they forgot to by a real card in time and by the time they got one, the USPS would have no chance in getting it to her in time.

I think Not.

Here are two E-cards that I thought were left out of the first run but I really hope to see them in the 2nd edition.

Tuesdays always suck..but I’m not talking the day, I’m talking about the movie. I came across a snippet of this about year ago, and I was dying for the full version. It’s like a ghetto black anime hood cartoon. A mixture of animation, photography, rap, all kinds of S**t. Also the website is hot…it’s on some crazy medication stuff. Whatever it is you know we bring you the Freshes.

Yo check out the site at http://www.thisdaysucks.com/

I’m all about news on Monday..but you know how we do it. All Urban all the time. This is sorta old news but I think that alot of people don’t know about this, because I didn’t….and I’m im a true fan of hiphop.

There’s nothing marginal about hip-hop, and the Smithsonian says so in a new exhibit in the National Portrait Gallery. A Multi-year initiative to gather broad collection on hip-hop culture and culminate in comprehensive exhibition.
